Che Peter Dungan





Che Peter Dungan was raised in Riverside, California. He graduated from Arlington High School with high honors in 1993. While at Arlington, he was on the Varsity Swim and Water Polo teams, excelled at Mock Trial and Academic Decathalon, and was a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. After completing several Red Cross courses, Che was employed by the City of Riverside as a lifeguard. He also worked as a volunteer in the Pediatrics Ward at Riverside General Hospital.

Che then attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, graduating and receiving his commission as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army on May 31, 1997. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in American Politics. While at West Point, Che was President of the Cadet Academic Advisory Board, which advised the Dean of Academics on cadet issues. He also was active in the Model United Nations club, and was on his unit's Class and Ring Committees. Che graduated with a 3.45 grade point average.

Lieutenant Dungan was congratulated by Riverside City Councilman Alex Clifford and Riverside County Supervisor Bob Buster at the June 1997 meeting of the Arlington Advisory Committee and was awarded a desk plaque by the WPPC of the Inland Empire.

After graduating from West Point, Lieutenant Dungan was commissioned into the Aviation Branch. Subsequently, he received flight instruction at Fort Rucker, Alabama, and graduated from Initial Entry Rotary Wing Flight Training where he earned his pilot's wings. After having been promoted to Captain, he flew armed scout helicopters such as the OH-58D Kiowa pictured below with the 10th Mountain Division based at Fort Drum, New York. He completed a tour of duty in Bosnia several years ago and then returned to the Balkans with an aviation squadron from the 10th Mountain Division as part of the NATO force for Kosovo.Graduation 2005When he returned stateside, he was accepted by UCLA's school of law and went on to earn his Juris Doctor Degree, graduating on May 15, 2005. In 2007, Captain Dungan served as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) lawyer with the Special Forces in Kandahar, Afghanistan, where they put the Taliban on the run in the battle of Panjiway. He was stationed at Fort Bragg and lived in nearby Fayetteville, North Carolina. Promoted to Major in 2008, Che attended a JAG staff college in Virginia. He subsequently reviewed contract law cases for the Army in Washington, D.C., and lived in a town house in Arlington, Virginia.

When the Army began to downsize in 2011, Che left military life and went to work for the law firm of Hogan Lovells in Washington, D.C. He currently works for Miles and Stockbridge, specializing in government contracts.

On September 26, 2004, Aidan Connor Dungan was born to Che and his lovely wife, Amber. Aidan is a welcome addition to our family.
